The Chapel

What was once the Pickwell Estate’s 16th-century chapel has been carefully transformed into a cosy and characterful bolthole. Everything a holidaying couple could possibly need is here, but the Chapel has a surprise in store – a private decked area off the bedroom with chairs, party lights and an outdoor bath big enough for two.

If you can pull yourself away from your pristine retreat, there are six acres of rambling estate gardens to explore; have a game of tennis or croquet, fire up the barbecue, chat to other guests. Wilder areas of the garden include a firepit with wooden benches and overhead parachute. The manor house has a coffee room and useful laundry/drying room too.

Walk the 20 minutes (either cross-country or by the road) to reach Georgeham’s two good pubs Rock Inn and the King’s Arms – and a shop.
